Hive Location And Assessment

Our Honeybee Hive Removal service begins with a base service fee, followed by an hourly rate based on the time required to complete the removal. We use thermal imaging, an inspection scope, visible bee activity, construction clues, common sense, and more than 15 years of field experience to locate the hive and determine the safest access point.

Controlled Interior Access

When practical, we access the hive from inside the home or building so the work can be performed in a controlled environment. We carefully cut an opening in the drywall that is large enough to expose the active hive and remove the colony without causing unnecessary structural damage.

Complete Hive And Colony Removal

We carefully remove the honeybees, queen, comb, stored honey, brood, and pupae from the wall cavity. Removing the complete hive is important because leftover honey, wax, brood material, and hive odors can attract ants, cockroaches, rodents, wax moths, and future honeybee colonies.

Hive Box Transfer And Relocation

The queen, bees, comb, and developing brood are carefully placed into a hive box. Viable colonies are then donated to a local beekeeping group so experienced beekeepers can help the colony survive, stabilize, and transition into a new location.

Temporary Wall Closure And Post-Removal Conditions

After the hive and accessible materials are removed, we cover the wall opening with plastic sheeting and secure it with tape. We recommend leaving this temporary closure in place for approximately one to two weeks before scheduling permanent drywall repair. This allows any foraging bees or workers that escaped deeper into the wall void during the removal to die out or disperse.

We make every reasonable effort to protect the work area, remove debris, and leave the home as clean as possible. Honeybee cut-outs can be long, physically demanding jobs performed in hot, confined, and sticky conditions. Although our technicians clean the accessible area carefully, a slight tackiness or small amount of honey residue may occasionally remain.
